My top 5 favourite skincare products for dry skin!

Living in a dry climate my entire life, I’ve always struggled with dry and flaky skin. It’s especially hard when you want to wear makeup and the foundations sticks to all of the dry patches on your face! I’ve tried countless moisturizers that cost anywhere between $10 and $100, but the products in this post are the only ones that have ever truly worked for me. I’ve also found that drinking a ton of water can be beneficial to my skin as well. Sadly none of these products are anti-aging. As a 23 year-old grandma, I have been blessed with forever youthful skin, which is sometimes a curse because I constantly get asked what grade I’m in or what school I go to.

Fresh faced without any makeup on (Except I fill in my eyebrows because if I didn’t it would look like I didn’t have eye brows)
  1. Clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion +

I found this lotion in grade 11 or 12, and I’ve been using it religiously ever since! It’s honestly the one of the only lotions that keeps my skin hydrated and glowing while I’m wearing makeup. I really enjoy how light-weight it is, and the formula is fast absorbing so it doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily. If you’ve been searching for a moisturizer to quench your dry skin, I HIGHLY recommend giving this one a try. At $36 for 4.2 fl. oz., I find it’s pretty reasonably priced and it honestly lasts me forever! This is a great daytime lotion with a nice light consistency for all-day wear under makeup.

2. Skin Drink from Lush

My second favourite moisturizer is called “Skin Drink” from lush. This one will cost you $26.95 for 1.5 oz., which I go through pretty quickly and I find myself buying it every few months. What I really like about this moisturizer is its all natural ingredients and the consistency of the formula. It’s a thicker consistency and offers really great hydration, but can make your skin appear quite shiny and oily if you wear it alone without makeup. Makeup does apply really nice on top of it which is great! This lotion is also nice to wear overnight, and when you wake up your skin feels refreshed and revitalized. I love all of lush’s products and this one is awesome for dry skin!

3. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel

Washing your face every day is so important to get rid of any dirt or makeup that’s left on the surface. When I was a teenager, I always used acne face cleansers that would leave my skin irritated and dry. I found this cleanser a few years ago and I’ve been using it daily ever since! It’s perfect for someone with dry skin who doesn’t want to strip their skin of all its natural oils and create irritation. It’s gentle, light and leaves your skin feeling smooth and clean, which is something I really love. One of the key ingredients to look for when purchasing a cleanser for dry skin is hyaluronic acid. This ingredient reduces the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles while retaining moisture to the skin, creating a plumping effect. Retailing for $13.50 at shoppers, I think it’s a really high quality product for a reasonable price.

4. The Ordinary – 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Borage Seed Oil

I received this product as a birthday present from a friend, and I was immediately impressed! A little of this oil goes a long way, and it really hydrates your skin. I like to apply it right when I get out of the shower, and I let it sit for a few minutes before I apply moisturizer. The only thing about this oil is it has a strong scent, that lingers for quite a long time after applying it. For some, this could be a determining factor on whether or not they enjoy the product. The scent doesn’t bother me and I actually think it smells quite earthy and nice. I was so surprised when I found the price of this oil, only $4.20!!! I don’t know about you, but I can never find quality skincare products for that price. I recommend this oil for nice hydration to use under your moisturizer if you have dry skin.

5. Sheet face masks

I love sheet face masks because they are so easy to apply and take off, and they offer really great hydration for dry skin. I haven’t tried too many different kinds of face masks, but I think for the value, the Sephora brand ones are always my go-to. They are reasonably priced at $8, and they offer so many different kinds depending on your skin type and needs. I don’t do face masks very often, which is something I think I should change because they are so awesome and are the perfect skincare tool when you want radiant hydrated skin.

This is a unicorn face mask my best friend got me for my birthday one year, I love the funny animal shapes you can get them in

I hope this post introduced you to some new products, and that you get the chance to try some of them if you have dry skin! I think taking care of your face is so important because if you can prevent pre-mature wrinkles and aging then why not!!! This grandma is always on the lookout for great products, if you have any recommendations I would love to hear them!

That’s all for now!
