Lush Naked Facial Oil: Banana Skin Review

When I saw that Lush came out with package-free facial oils a few months ago, I was immediately intrigued. I think Lush skin care products are under-rated, and I don’t hear as many reviews about their moisturizers as I do about their bath and body products. I love the Skin Drink moisturizer, as mentioned in my dry skin blog post. I have extremely dehydrated skin and even though I drink 5 to 6 water bottles a day, nothing seems to help my skin. I’ve been using this lush naked facial oil in combination with Fresh’s sugar face polish exfoliator, and I’ve already noticed results!

Lush describes this product as, ” A decadently soothing blend of fresh banana, mango butter and tapioca flour creates an easily-absorbed formula that hydrates without feeling heavy or greasy. Simply sweep this beautifully buttery bar over the face or work between your fingers and massage in. Then revel in your velvety-soft skin and a sweet custardy scent that’s a treat in itself. “

What I like about Banana Skin

  • The scent. The smell of this product is so tropical and lovely. It has mango butter and fresh banana which leave your skin smelling heavenly. I’ve never used such a nice smelling facial oil. It’s not overpowering by any means either, it’s perfect.
  • The consistency. If you have dry skin, this product is going to be a life-saver for you. The consistency is quite oily and greasy, but that’s exactly what my skin needs. I can wear this during the day and it doesn’t make my face too glowy, but I could see how it would be too much for some people. If your skin doesn’t handle oily products well, but you still need extra hydration, apply it on your face before you go to bed and it will soak up all the oils overnight.
  • The application. I love how I can just rub this directly onto my face and there’s no packaging! If I can make a small impact to help the environment, I’m all about it. It applies really nicely because it melts right into your skin. I apply it in circular motions on my cheeks and forehead and the warmth of my skin causes it to melt right away.
  • The hydration. This product has now replaced many of my my facial serums that I used to use. It’s that good! It leaves my skin feeling so refreshed and moisturized.

Considerations for buying the product

The only caution I would give with this product, is that it melts really quickly! I was walking around the mall with it in a bag and it started to melt in about 10 minutes. Even though you don’t have to store it in the fridge, I’ve been keeping mine in there since I bought it. We have air conditioning in our apartment and I’m sure it wouldn’t melt but I like to keep it in there just to be safe. I would not keep it in my bathroom or anywhere near my shower because I can see it melting and making a mess very easily! It costs $14.95 which I think is very reasonable considering its going to last you a long time.

Overall Thoughts

I don’t have anything negative to say about this product! I actually wish I had bought the entire line of naked facial oils because I’m so impressed with this one. I might go back to Lush and get them, stay tuned.

I hope this review was helpful and that I’ve convinced you to try it if you have dry skin! It’s a life-saver!
